It’s a travel day and I’m making my way from Oyster Point up the North Carolina Coast to New Bern, NC – the birthplace of Pepsi Cola – after a quick visit to Edenton.
Forest and I stopped for a walk around the Martin Marietta Loop at the newly dedicated park, in New Bern, which has miles of trails. Situated along the Neuse River, this is a great place to stretch your legs or put in a kayak for some paddling.
The trail between the lakes – a former quarry – was a little hot and exposed to full sun most of the way. We enjoyed it but probably should have started earlier than 10 am.
After a day of exploring, we stopped to camp for a night at the peaceful Goose Creek State Park.
